It is in fact possible to squeeze a lemon without a lemon squeezer thing, but the fact of the matter is: it’s just so much easier with that handy little appliance. We agree that you know you’re officially an adult when you purchase a lemon squeezer. She just bought one two weeks ago.
What we’re trying to get at is there are tools available to us that can make everyday tasks that much easier and that much more efficient. One such tool is a diffuser.
If you don’t know what a diffuser is, it’s that thing you threw out the last time you purchased a hair-blow-dryer.
Not just a bunch of hot air
A diffuser is an amazing tool when it comes to creating an easy, breezy, beachy curl that brings out the small bit of natural wave that most of us have, but few of us capitalize on.
Where to start:
Wet hair is better than damp hair when it comes to diffusion. As opposed to towel-drying your hair like you regularly would, use the towel to at first crunch the hair as you remove some of the water. Next, continue to crunch your hair in the same way with just your hands adding crunch products like Bumble and bumble Styling Cream and Surf Spray into your hair to create a curled-look. Even if you don’t have what you consider to be curly hair, we assure you, this is possible. In fact, if she lets her hair air-dry, it’s poker straight – so this is possible! Get crunching!
Contrary to popular belief, diffusing your hair doesn’t start with whipping your head upside down and getting light-headed. Instead, start by drying the roots of your hair with the hair-blow-dryer set to high heat and low speed. This sets the stage for epic beach waves.
Patience is Both a Virtue and an Integral Aspect of Diffusion
Just like drying your roots, the next step is also comprised of high heat and low speeds – main difference being, you have the thinger attached. Attack this slow but steady, keeping fixed pressure on sections of your hair for about twenty second intervals. DO NOT PUMP THE BLOW DRYER UP AND DOWN OR TURN THE SPEED ON HIGH – THIS WILL CREATE ALL OF THE FRIZZ. GOT IT? YOU SURE? Ok.
KEEP IT MOVING
Move around your head in a clockwise direction, dividing your hair into one quarter or one third sections. Keep this up until your hair is mostly dry – no need for the hair to be completely dry, as the shape will be for the most-part solidified. To finish the look, make a point of removing “crunchy” looking pieces by gently smoothing the strands with a comb.
Finish with a flat iron –
There’s always going to be a couple of asshole pieces of hair that just don’t cooperate. Show them what’s what and bring them into the business of curl with a couple of quick rotations.
Seal the Deal
Spray on a light mist of an aerosol finishing spray, we love Elnet, medium hold, as well as a light shine spray to the ends of the hair.
